Marvel Rising & Burnouts (Image Comics)

It's been quite a while since my last post, so here is quick updates :

I'm working for Marvel on their new animated line : Marvel Rising.
Doing the layout and the animatic (rough cut of the video, a very impotant step!).
This is very exciting for me to mix animation and comics, both my favorite mediums.
Out in 2018!

I'm the lead artist on the new ongoing serie Burnouts, to be published by Image Comics in September!
A story filled with action, drugs and aliens : Saving the world, one puff at a time !

Layout Artist on the Marvel Video Comics !

The Marvel Video Comics are a new digital format developped by Marvel Entertainment and visible for free on the Disny XD Youtube Channel !

I did the layouts and the animatic  with the help of Balak for a one shot episode of Black Panther !

Il s'agit d'un nouveau format numérique développé par Marvel et visible gratuitement sur la chaîne youtube de Disney XD.

J'ai réalisé le story-board et le montage avec l'aide de Balak pour cet épisode one shot centré sur Black Panther !

Turbomedia - Bouncer! (FRENCH)

While waiting for some imminent news concerning the Infinite Comics for Marvel Comics, here is a free turbomedia based on the story of the Bouncer by François Boucq & Alejandro Jodorowsky!

Mast and I did the layouts while Boucq did the drawings (which you can see here).

The story happens between the 8th and the 9th issue, so this is really a story made for the turbomedia.

En attendant de pouvoir annoncer une actualité concernant les Infinite Comics pour Marvel Comics, voici un turbomedia basé sur l'histoire du  Bouncer par François Boucq & Alejandro Jodorowsky!

Mast et moi-même avons réalisé la mise en scène tandis que Boucq a fait les dessins (que vous pouvez voir ici).

L'histoire se passe entre le 8ème et le 9ème tome, donc c'est une histoire pensée pour le turbomedia.

Back from the New York Comic Con which was huge, full of magic and full of burgers.

Had the chance to go to the Comixology and Marvel headquarters.

Will definitely go back to NY soon.

On a pu visiter les locaux de Comixology ainsi que ceux de Marvel, en bref on va définitivement y retourner rapidement.

I will attend the Comic Con during the 4 days with my bro Mast, acting like (plastic) americans and showing you our last turbo-productions!

Working on the Marvel Infinite Comics!!

I'm doing storyboards for Marvel on their digital line: Marvel Infinite Comics, with my bro Mast!

Je réalise des storyboards pour la ligne digitale de Marvel: les Marvel Infinite Comics! Toujours avec mon bro et acolyte Mast!

Cool stuff with turbo comics 01

    What I really enjoy about Pax Arena, and overall the turbo comics (or turbo media in french) is how you can easily play with the panels and thus, the pacing.As Mark Waid pointed out, "with the printed format you can surprise the reader only when he turns the page while here, you can surprise the reader every time".

And that's something. More free with how to create tension, more free with the format. 
I can decide to have a nice 16:9 format;



or to have a screen full with panels.

You can even put the balloons on the borders, it won't spoil anything.Still, even if you have more liberties than with the printed format, you need some rules to make it works. Because just putting panels after one another or on top of one another won't necessarily serve the story.

The key thing is, as with movies and with comics, the NARRATION.

So feel free to comment and ask questions, I will try to put some more examples in the weeks to come to emphasize the greatness of this format.

Ce que j'adore avec Pax Arena, et le turbo média en général, c'est la facilité avec laquelle on peut jouer avec les cases, et donc le rythme.
Pour citer Mark Waid "avec la version papier, on ne peut surprendre le lecteur que lorsqu'il tourne la page; alors qu'ici on peut le surprendre quand on veut."

Et ça, c'est quelque chose. Plus de liberté pour créer de la tension, plus de liberté avec le format.
Je peux décider d'avoir un plein écran façon cinéma 16/9e;

ou au contraire d'avoir plusieurs cases.

Je peux même mettre le texte dans les bordures de façon à ce qu'il ne gêne pas la lecture.

Et pourtant, malgré ces libertés par rapport au format papier, il faut des règles pour que cela fonctionne. Parce que juste mettre des cases les unes à côté des autres ou au dessus l'une de l'autre ne servira pas forcément l'histoire.

La clé, comme avec les films et les comics, c'est la NARRATION.

Donc n'hésitez pas à commenter et poser des questions, j'essayerai dans les semaines à venir de mettre en avant d'autres exemples pour montrer la classe de ce format.
